Singers and songwriters Grant King and Dave Brown perform a free, acoustic performance.
This will be Part 2 of the songwriters-in-concert series “Songs I Wish I’d Written!,” curated by King.
Inspired and influenced by particular songs for many years, King started the series to honor fellow songwriters’ work. For this concert, he invited special guest Dave Brown to showcase his original material.
“The fact there are many local songwriters I admire makes this project all the sweeter for me,” King says. The series’ concerts begin with King singing covers, along with a few originals, accompanied by his guitar, before introducing a special guest.
Both involved in the 1990s with Outmusic, New York City’s LGBTQ+ collective, Brown and King performed and collaborated with a wide variety of musicians, and have been praised for common trademarks of poignancy, humor, and activism in their work.
Brown and King have each released acclaimed recordings on their independent labels, Chihuahua Records and Know More Secrets, respectively.
