Community Poetry Reflection Series

  • Provincetown Public Library 356 Commercial Street Provincetown, MA, 02657 United States (map)

Drop In: Five Wednesdays in July 5:00–6:30pm

At the Provincetown Public Library (Bowsprit Room on the 2nd floor)

Selected poets & their poems will serve as our guides as we explore themes inspired by the title of Clarissa Pinkola Estés essay: “Do Not Lose Heart. We Were Born for These Times.” Each 90-minute session will center on a single poem that speaks to this theme. Together we will slow down, listen deeply, reflect, and share our responses in a welcoming community setting.

What to Expect - Each session includes: Arriving and getting present; welcome and introduction to the evening’s theme; brief introductions; who is in the room?; a poem read aloud twice by volunteer readers; individual reflection through writing or drawing; voluntary sharing and group conversation; exploring connections between the poem, our lives, and the theme at hand. Please bring a notebook & pen.

Facilitator: Mary C. DeRocco, M.A., LMFT, LMHC is a licensed psychotherapist, published writer and poet. Mary has been immersed in the creative worlds of Provincetown as a year-rounder the past forty years.
